Valve debuts the next generation of OpenGL at GDC 2015

From Gamasutra: For more than a decade, OpenGL has been powering some of the biggest games in the industry. But as the industry evolves, it’s important to ask: what comes next?

Find out at GDC 2015, where you can join engineers from Valve, Epic, Unity, Oxide, and Electronic Arts for the unveiling of Khronos’ glNext initiative in the “glNext: The Future of High Performance Graphics” sponsored session.

A cross-platform graphics API designed for modern programming techniques and processors, OpenGL successor glNext is designed to be a top choice for developers seeking peak performance in their applications going forward. At GDC, the panel of engineers will present a technical breakdown of the API, advanced techniques and live demos of real-world applications running on glNext drivers and hardware.

It promises to be a can’t-miss session for game makers, engineers and anyone interested in the future of OpenGL.

Full details on this and all other announced talks is available now in the online GDC 2015 Session Scheduler, where you can begin to build your conference week and later export it to the up-to-the-minute GDC Mobile App, coming soon.

GDC 2015 itself will take place March 2-6 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. For more information on GDC 2015, visit the show’s official website, or subscribe to regular updates via Facebook, Twitter, or RSS.
