April 20, 2015 – In the upcoming six days, Berlin will become the German games capital. At the eleven events of the INTERNATIONAL GAMES WEEK BERLIN (April 21-26, 2015) everything will revolve around computer games. More than 300 national and international speakers are invited to for various keynotes, workshops and panel discussions. Gaming enthusiasts, fans and families are addressed by the events as much as professionals and experts of the games industry.
The INTERNATIONAL GAMES WEEK BERLIN will officially be opened by Björn Böhning, Head of the Berlin Senate Chancellery, and Brigitte Zypries, Parliamentary State Secretary at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Games Week Berlin and Quo Vadis Center at Kino International. The Opening Summit is the kick-off event of the INTERNATIONAL GAMES WEEK BERLIN, where representatives of politics, media and public institutions in Germany and Europe can meet and network with the international games industry.

During the whole week, computer games and the games industry will be the center of attention at the eleven events that are part of the European games industry’s most important networking and communication platform: the Opening Summit (April 21), the developer conference Quo Vadis (April 21-23), the independent games festival A MAZE. / Berlin (April 22-25), Gamefest at the Computerspielemuseum (April 23-26), Womenize! Tech, Digital Business and Media (April 23), Matchmaking Dinner (April 22), Making Games Talents (April 25), 15 Years of GAMES ACADEMY Party (April 23), Franco-German Game Initiative (April 22), CGC BarTalk (April 21), and Apps World Germany (April 22-23).
Festive highlight will be the presentation of the German Video Game Awards (April 21), which is held in cooperation with the INTERNATIONAL GAMES WEEK BERLIN. Five of the 13 categories of the German Video Game Awards will already be awarded in the afternoon as part of the Opening Summit.
The INTERNATIONAL GAMES WEEK BERLIN follows in the footsteps of DGT – Deutsche Games Tage, which were initiated in 2007 in Berlin by Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg. Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg supports many of the individual events.
