New Jersey Gamer Con features a 24-hour Free-play Arcade, Tournaments, Vendors, Retro and Modern Gaming, Cosplay Costume Contests, Special Guests, and more
Cherry Hill, NJ (5 miles of Center City Philadelphia) – Today (July 2nd, 2018) – The South Jersey/Philadelphia Area’s premier gaming convention, New Jersey Gamer Con, will be held Saturday and Sunday July 7th and 8th at their new location, The Crowne Plaza Philadelphia-Cherry Hill, and will feature an arcade, vendors, tournaments, consoles, special guests, tabletop games, contests and more.
Attendees can play a wide variety of games in the newly expanded 24-hour free-play Arcade, play on vintage and new gaming consoles 24-hours, meet special guests, shop in the vendor room, play tabletop games, join the LAN party, and sign up to participate in several tournaments such as Super Smash Brothers and Mario Kart 8 for a chance at cash and prizes. A Cosplay Costume Contest will also be held with prizes, including the grand prize of a chance at a spot in an upcoming Cartoon Network commercial.
New Jersey Gamer Con, now in its 4th year, is a convention organized by game enthusiasts who wanted to run a local event that represented area gamers and both the nostalgic and newer games they love to play. Jerry Colonna, Gamer Con founder, says, “I wanted to build a convention that focused on bringing the local gaming community together, while also providing a fun, safe and open atmosphere for everyone to enjoy, from ages 1 to 91. I think it’s great that we’ve been successful at accomplishing that goal, and it’s so rewarding to see all the kids smiling at our events.”
Ticket holders who are guests staying at The Crowne Plaza also have access to several “day-zero” events occurring on Friday, July 6th, including a Pokémon-themed poker run, members party and pool party.
New Jersey Gamer Con hosts two charities that benefit local families with unmet medical expenses through gaming marathons, Extra Life, and Help Hope Live. This year attendees who sign up to game for these organizations will be entered into a raffle to win a free hotel stay at The Crowne Plaza.
