Gaming Community Gives GaymerX a 1UP for GX3: Everyone Games (PRESS RELEASE)

Publishers and Devs like Devolver Digital, Dim Bulb Games, Coffee Stain Studios, Asher Vollmer, and Blizzard Entertainment offer support to LGBTQ focused gaming convention

San Francisco, August 20, 2014 – After hosting two yearly conventions, GaymerX organizers were cautious about holding another year of the LGBTQ-focused fan convention that seeks to ‘create a safe space for all gamers, especially gamers who are queer, women, and people of color’ due to the increasing cost of expanding in San Francisco.

As GaymerX’s financial difficulties came to light, handfuls of developers rose up to throw their support behind the convention, claiming GaymerX was something that needed to continue. Among these were Blizzard Entertainment, the creators of the Warcraft®, StarCraft®, and Diablo® series, Devolver Digital, Coffee Stain Studios, Hornet Networks and Dim Bulb Games.

(LINK)GX3: Everyone Games is currently looking to raise 60% of their needed funds on the Kickstarter website, and with GX3, the convention will be dropping the “Gaymer” name from the event’s moniker. They’ve noticed that their attendance has quickly shifted from being “gay dudes” to a wide range of gamers – trans people and other queer folk, women, people of color, straight allies, and disabled gamers, and they wish to better represent them with a more inclusive name.

“We are thrilled and humbled by the amount of support we’ve gotten since taking our financial difficulties public” quoted CEO and founder of GaymerX, Matt Conn “With amazing devs and publishers willing to put their money up to help save the concept of an awesome safe space for queer geeks and their friends, it means the world that we’re able to potentially continue this convention”

GX3 is scheduled for August 11-13 in Downtown San Francisco, and follows GaymerX and GaymerX2 which featured speakers like WWE’s Darren Young, Colleen Macklin, David Gaider, Ellen McLain, Alexis Ohanian, SMBC’s Zach Weiner and companies like 2K Games, Ubisoft, EA, BioWare, Riot Games and MailChimp.
