Game-Changing Augmented Reality Hardware and Software Make Up the Winners of the Sixth Annual Auggie Awards

Vuforia, CastAR, BublCam, Lyteshot and Lowe’s Holoroom are a few augmented-reality experiences that make up the list of this year’s winners.

At the Augmented World Expo in Santa Clara, California, every year, for the past six years, the best of the best have competed for a one-of-a-kind Auggie Trophy as an award to celebrate excellence in augmented reality. AugmentedRealty.org, the producing organization behind the Augmented World Expo, is pleased to announce the winners of this year’s Auggie Awards.

This year’s competition, which kicked off in April, saw over 100 nominations acorss nine categories including best smart glasses, best AR app and best enterprise solution. All nominations were voted on by the public to select the finalists who then moved on to the judging round of the competition. This year’s judging panel included leaders in the AR, wearable and tech space from the likes of Intel, Qualcomm, Epson, IEEE, THRED and Rackspace.

“We’ve seen a tremendous amount of activity in the augmented reality space this year with a ton of new product announcements and acquisitions and we are glad to highlight some of the front runners in both AR hardware and software by honouring them with an Auggie Award,” explains Ori Inbar, CEO and co-founder of AugmentedRealty.org. “This year’s winners are all making waves in the AR space and it is important to take the time to mark their success.”

The winners of this year’s Auggie Awards are:
● Best Smart glasses (co-sponsored by IEEE Standards Association): CastAR by CastAR
● Best Hardware: BublCam by Bubl Technology
● Best App (co-sponsored by Epson): Child MRI Evaluation by CurrentLabs
● Best Campaign (co-sponsored by Qualcomm): Next for Nigeria
● by AR&Co
● Best Enterprise Solution (co-sponsored by DAQRI): Lowe’s Holoroom by SciFutures
● Best Tool: Vuforia by Qualcomm with honorable mentions to Wikitude AR SDK and Image Recognition SW by Catchoom
● Best Game or Toy (co-sponsored by Intel): Assassin The Game by LyteShot
● Best Art or Film: Consumption Cycle by BC “Heavy” Biermann and Re+Public

The final Auggie Award, Best in Show, is selected by attendees at AWE who vote for participating companies based on their experience at the show. This award will be announced at the event wrap-up on Wednesday June 10.

This year, Auggie Award winners will walk away with a 3D printed Auggie Award trophy printed by FormLabs.
