To give you the power to easily discover upcoming game industry events calendar that includes conferences, conventions, festivals and many other types of events, we post a consolidated list here on Events for Gamers each month.

November quite a strong month still but it is the last of the year in terms of active events. December will have several still but with the holidays this is the month to ‘event hop’ if that’s your thing.

We’re still seeing a mix of Onsite vs Online vs Hybrid events, however, it’s becoming clear that Online events are not as popular 2H of this year as they were the past couple of years. Does this mean they will disappear in 2024+? Certainly not, as there are many benefits to online events such as the ability to gather more folks together in a virtual space.

CES 2023–In Person–On Track to Exceed 2022 Largest post-pandemic tech event to date kicks off January 5, 2023

ARLINGTON, Va., Oct. 6, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — The Consumer Technology Association (CTA)® today announced that CES® 2023 will likely be the largest in-person, audited business event to take place in the U.S. since early 2020. The show footprint is on track to grow more than 40% larger than CES 2022. 

“People are excited to head back to Las Vegas for CES 2023, and it will rock,” said Gary Shapiro, President and CEO, CTA. “We are optimistic we can hit our attendance goal of 100,000, which would make it the largest independently-audited post-pandemic tech event. This year’s show will feature keynotes from tech visionaries and the opportunity to see and touch the tech that’s shaking up industries and changing our lives for the better.”

“Global brands including Abbott, Amazon, AMD, Google, John Deere, LG, Qualcomm, Roku, Samsung, Sony, Stellantis, Verizon. They and many others are committed to CES to launch new products and display cutting-edge technologies,” said Kinsey Fabrizio, CTA Senior Vice President Membership and CES Sales.

“The robust conference program shows momentum beyond the show floor at CES,” said John T. Transportation and Mobility

The automotive sector will be bigger than ever at CES 2023, with nearly 300 exhibitors in a sold-out West Hall. The exhibits in West Hall will cover almost 25% more floor space than 2022, featuring the latest in self-driving tech, electric vehicles and personal mobility devices.

Digital Health

Companies including Abbott, LOTTE Healthcare, MedWand Solutions and Omron Healthcare contribute to a larger and more diverse digital health category. Attendees will discover the tools and technologies lowering costs, improving health equity and saving lives as patients seek ways to empower themselves and take control of their care and wellbeing.

Web3/Metaverse

Our new Web3 category will feature activations from Meta, SK and many others, with a focus on how associated technologies – including those for metaverse and cryptocurrency—can revolutionize how we live, work and play in an immersive, inclusive and distributed virtual universe.

Sustainability

Sustainability will be front and center for hundreds of exhibitors at CES. Global brands like John Deere and startups will demonstrate how tech innovation can conserve energy and increase power generation, address food shortages and create more sustainable agricultural systems, improve resilience and recovery from natural disasters, power smart cities, support access to clean water and more.

Human Security for All

Partnering with the World Academy of Art and Science, CES will shine a spotlight on how technology helps people tackle the world’s most pressing problems. Support of United Nations efforts to advance Human Security for All will be a theme throughout the show, from conference programming to keynotes highlighting innovation and products improving the lives of people around the world.

Game Wave Festival changes the dates to host the Nordic Game Discovery Contest Grand Finals

Tallinn, Estonia, 20.09.2022 – The Game Wave Festival (GWF) announced new dates for the event. It will be happening November 28-29 in Tallinn, Estonia at Tallink Spa & Conference Hotel. In addition to new dates, Game Wave Festival is proud to host Nordic Game Discovery Contest Baltic Semi-finals leading up to NGDC Grand Finals.

“We have changed the dates for the conference because we got a unique opportunity to host NGDC Season VI: Special Qualifier and the NGDC Grand Finals for the first time in the Baltic region” — says Ints Viksna, Chairman of the Board at Latvian Technological center.

The Game Wave Festival is a business, education and entertainment event for the gaming industry professionals. It first took place with great success in September 2021 in Jūrmala, Latvia, and was attended by more than 270 participants from 25 countries. 

The festival is mainly B2B, however, it is designed to avoid the “stiffness” these types of events sometimes have by capturing the fun and relaxed ambiance. GWF is large enough to get an overview of the main tendencies in the Nordic and Baltic region, and small enough to make friends with all participants – The friendships you will make in GWF, will follow you all your life.

  • Plenty of useful workshops, game company, art, technology & education expo, pitching opportunities and business meetings.
  • The conference and interactive events are divided in 5 tracks: General, Art (visual, audial, haptics), Unreal Engine and XR.

Over 20 Titles To Be Showcased On World’s Most Powerful Gaming Handheld

September 12, 2022 – Valve and Komodo, the licensed provider of Steam Deck in Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, are heading to Tokyo Game Show 2022 (TGS) where they’re hosting a massive booth showcasing Steam Deck, featuring over 20 gaming titles for showgoers to try.

Registration Is Open for Exhibitors and the Indie Game Award

As the pandemic in Taiwan eases, the Taipei Game Show announces its grand return to full-scale physical events starting in February 2023. According to the organizer, the Asia Pacific Game Summit (APGS) will feature domestic and foreign lecturers, and the physical part of B2B Zone will also be back in play. The B2C Zone for players will remain its previous hybrid form. In addition to the show scheduled to take place at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 1, there will be special online programs to engage gamers all over the world. According to a report issued by Video Game Insights, starting in 2021, independent games have been dominating the new game scene on STEAM. 98% of the new games launched are independent games, and the trend remains consistent this year, signifying the forceful surge of independent games. Taipei Game Show has been dedicated to helping independent game developers reach gamers. The B2B Zone, Indie House, and the Indie Game Award 2023 are also now open for registration. Winning teams of game developers will not only be entitled to the glory but also get a chance to promote their works globally using official publicity resources.

September is one of the most exciting months for events. Not only are there many more events than any other month of the year, but some of our favorites are included like PAX West, Dragon Con, D.I.C.E. Europe, and more.

One interesting note about the trend of Onsite vs Online vs Hybrid is the vast number of Onsite in September. We’re clearly seeing an interest in back-to-onsite attendance. There are some Hybrid events out there still, but hardly any Online only compared to the vast number of other types. We’ll see what October and beyond will show in contrast.

“Finally, gamescom in Cologne is back again! And after a three-year break, the gamescom congress is once again taking its permanent place at the world’s largest event for games. Once again, we have succeeded in bringing national and international experts to Cologne. They will show the economic and social areas in which games have already become indispensable. I am looking forward to the exchange and networking at the gamescom congress”, says Nathanael Liminski, Minister for Federal and European Affairs, International Affairs and Media of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and Head of the State Chancellery. The state of NRW has been a sponsor of the congress for many years.

Political kick-off

The gamescom congress kicks off with a talk between Felix Falk, Managing Director of game, the association of the German games industry and Nathanael Liminski, Minister for media in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Afterwards, one of the political highlights of the entire gamescom will attract attention: At the Debatt(l)e Royale, Kevin Kühnert (Secretary General, SPD), Mario Czaja (Secretary General, CDU), Emily Büning (Federal Executive Director, Bündnis 90/Die Grünen) and Bijan Djir-Sarai (Secretary General, FDP) will discuss hot topics of the young generation and what framework conditions politics must create in order to make the best possible use of the potential of games. The debate will be moderated by streamer Kim-Noemi Adam aka Freiraumreh and journalist Niklas Kolorz. Everybody is invited to join in the discussion via #DebattleRoyale and submit questions to the panel. The talk will be streamed live on www.gamescom-congress.de and https://www.twitch.tv/gamescomcongress.
