Augmented World Expo Brings the Impossible to Life With a Flurry of Super Announcements

Aurasma, Inglobe Technologies, APX Labs, Optinvent, ODG, AltspaceVR, NGRAIN, Augmate, Catchoom, Zappar, Wikitude, Augmenta SoftKinetic & CandyBAR unveil milestones, new products and expanded services at the event

Santa Clara, June 9, 2015 – The sixth annual Augmented World Expo (AWE) kicks off this morning at the Santa Clara Convention Center with major announcements from leading companies in the augmented reality, virtual reality and wearable space taking place at the event.

AWE continues to be the largest event of its kind, highlighting thought leaders, pioneers and the latest tech in augmented and virtual reality, wearables and the Internet of Things. This year sees 3,000 attendees, 200 participating companies and a brand new virtual reality exhibitor area created in partnership with UploadVR.

“From Nurses with X-ray vision to technicians that can teleport, technology is bringing superpowers to the people,” explains Ori Inbar, CEO and co-founder of AugmentedReality.org, the producing organization behind AWE. “Augmented and virtual reality, wearables and IoT are enabling us to be better at anything we do in work and life and at AWE we will see real examples of how companies are showing measurable improvements to their businesses.”

Inbar unveils today the date for the seventh Augmented World Expo which will be held once again at the Santa Clara Convention Center in June 1-2 of 2016.

Making announcements at the event today are Aurasma, Inglobe Technologies, APX Labs, Optinvent, ODG, AltspaceVR, NGRAIN, Augmate, Catchoom, Zappar, Wikitude, Augmenta SoftKinetic & CandyBAR. These companies are celebrating milestones and unveiling new products and services aimed at advancing the growth of the AR, VR and wearable space.

Aurasma announces that its AR platform, Aurasma, has surpassed 100,000 global customers

Aurasma today announced that its industry-leading augmented reality (AR) platform, Aurasma, has surpassed 100,000 global customers, a nod to the company’s rapid growth and innovation, proprietary technologies and newly added features.  Aurasma has more than doubled its existing customer base worldwide with more than 60,000 new customers in the past 12 months. Customers in more than 100 countries are now using Aurasma to create meaningful, engaging and powerful mobile AR campaigns that drive revenue and demonstrate innovation.

Inglobe Technologies and VTT announce cooperation plans with ARmedia Augmented Reality SDK

Inglobe Technologies and VTT announces today that they have strenghtened their co-operation plans for increased functionality of the ARmedia 3D SDK. ARmedia SDK features a unique 3D tracking approach that is capable of recognizing and tracking objects independently of their size and geometry. The new release will bring an enhanced version of the technology to the community of developers with extended support for Windows and a number of additional features, like Geolocation, Planar NFT and SLAM for automatic 3D mapping and tracking of unknown environments. Additionally, the ARmedia 3D SDK will support a variety of Smartglasses including Epson Moverio BT-200 and VR headsets like Oculus Rift and Google Cardboard thanks to the new VR Panorama feature.

APX Labs delivers Skylight R5, expands enterprise software platform to smart watches

APX Labs announces the availability of Skylight R5, the latest version of the business software product features important new capabilities including voice command and control, a unique work management system called Workstreams, claims-based Active Directory authentication and improved high-resolution photo capture. The new release also extends the Skylight platform to support smart watches. Skylight enables hands-on workers to access the information, applications and systems necessary for their jobs, without the interruption of turning away to use computers, phones or paper manuals. The new voice enabled interface in Skylight R5 allows workers wearing smart glasses and smart watches to speak commands and communicate in a simple and natural way.

Optinvent unveils the ORA-X, a revolutionary new wearable device in a disruptive form factor, AR headphones, with high quality audio and adjustable see-through display

Optinvent unveils today the design of a disruptive new wearable category: the ORA-X. The ORA-X is a brand new wearable device category that is part smart glass, part high-end wireless audio headphones.  It runs Android and will feature quality audio sound as well as a disruptive see-through retinal projection technology. The ORA-X offers high quality audio, the ability to watch video, play casual AR games, search the web, video conference, take pictures, share on social networks, GPS, AR, and all the other capabilities of a tablet hands free. It is scheduled to be released in 2015.

ODG Announces New R-7 SmartAR Glasses for Enterprise Customers

ODG announces the R-7, the world’s most advanced Smart Glasses featuring stunning ultra-transparent 3D stereoscopic displays and packed with innovative technologies in an all-new dramatically smaller, lighter and sleeker design. The groundbreaking R-7 requires no external computing or other support and delivers an unparalleled user experience of display clarity, on-board processing power and system accuracy. In conjunction with the R-7 announcement, ODG also launched a newly revised Developer Site and Reticle Application Center. AltspaceVR and SMI Demonstrate Eye Tracking Technology for Virtual Reality

SensoMotoric Instruments (SMI), the eye tracking technology company, and AltspaceVR, a social virtual reality company, announced today that they will be demonstrating breakthrough eye tracking technology for virtual reality (VR), at Augmented World Expo 2015. In the demo, participants can use their eyes to control the user interface and navigate the 3D environment. True eye position and gaze direction, a first in VR, provides a more natural interaction with others in the VR space.

NGRAIN announces an industrial application suite for transformative AR deployment in enterprise

Wikitude announces the addition of 3D recognition and tracking capabilities to its SDK

Wikitude announces the addition of 3D recognition and tracking capabilities to its SDK package in September. Wikitude’s technology recognizes, maps and “understands” rooms to for example place digital furniture into it or to navigate through an unknown building. It allows you to create immersive entertainment in outdoor spaces, which has the potential to reinvent game play and the production of mixed reality film.
