5th Annual Canadian Videogame Awards announce exciting new fall format

2013 and 2014 games to be awarded November 21, 2014

February 14, 2014 (Toronto, ON) – The production team of Reboot Communications and EP Media announced today that the 5th Annual Canadian Videogame Awards (CVAs) will move to November 21, 2014 in Toronto, Ontario. This national award show celebrates excellence in Canadian-made videogames and has been held in Vancouver for the past four years.

This date change will facilitate the proper amount of production and promotional attention for the CVAs and provide our country’s game-making community an annual end of the year celebration.

“I couldn’t be more excited about moving the CVAs to Toronto! Moving the date to later in the year means more time for us to develop the program and ensure that we have the whole country’s attention. It’s going to be an amazing ceremony and I can’t wait to help honour Canada’s incredibly talented game community!” said Victor Lucas, co-host and executive producer of The Electric Playground.

An end of year show date will provide additional support for sponsors, finalists and nominees of the Canadian Videogame Awards as they promote their games for the holiday market. “Re-positioning the CVAs to the end of the year will allow us to better align our marketing with the industry’s schedule and provide additional value to all of our partners. This move is going to facilitate growth for the awards in years to come and strengthen this strategic pillar for the Canadian videogame industry,” said Greg Spievak, CEO of Reboot Communications.

The 2014 show will include 2013 and 2014 made games to be awarded separately, based on the nomination year, in one ceremony. Award nominations for 2013 have already closed and the adjudication process will continue as planned. Nomination details for 2014 will be announced in June.

The Canadian Videogame Awards are produced by Reboot Communications and EP Media, and officially endorsed by the Entertainment Software Association of Canada, Interactive Ontario and DigiBC. The producers are joined by a national advisory board of developers and leaders in the Canadian digital entertainment industry.
